Writing Assistance
We offer a Writing Assistance service that
is less expensive than hiring a ghostwriter, yet you get the advantage of having a published
author (or authors) help you create a marketable manuscript.
This service
is particularly helpful for first time fiction writers who can benefit
from the guidance of an experienced, published writer. Writing assistance
is also a popular service among those who want to write autobiographical
works. Only you know your story -- so you must write the first draft
yourself.
Whatever type of manuscript you want to
write, we can help you to get started -- and we can continue to provide assistance throughout
the writing process.
We begin by
helping you to create a synopsis, an organized outline, and character
sketches (these materials will guide you through the rest of the
writing process). Next, you write a draft of the first chapter or
section and send it to us to properly format, critique, and edit.
We work back and forth like this until a complete draft of the entire
story has been written. Then, we both read the store again to ensure
there are no remaining errors or changes that need to be made.
When your work
is complete, we assist you in securing an official copyright. We
also provide you with a researched listing of suitable publishers
to submit your work to.
Writing Assistance
includes all of the following:
- Proper formatting for submission to
publishers or agents
- Basic Proofreading Edit to correct
typos, spelling errors, and errors in the use of standard written English (such as punctuation,
word choice, sentence structure, mechanics, etc.)
- Content Edit to strengthen suspense,
description, sense of time and place, characterization, etc.
- Critique Service that points out the
strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript and offers specific suggestions on how to improve
any weak areas
- Assistance in securing an official
copyright
Fees
For most projects, we charge a flat fee of $3,500
(in US currency) for this service. In special circumstances, we
charge $40 per hour. We require an advance payment of $500 to begin
work and assist you with the set up materials (synopsis, outline
and character sketches). You make monthly payments on the balance.
Estimated Timelines
A full-length book typically takes six months to one year to complete -- depending on how much
time you have to devote to the project and how much substantive editing each chapter requires.
The average turn around time is nine months.
